WORK ON THREE PROJECTS UNDERWAY
Silence is currently working on three projects. The first is Peklenska pomaranca (A Clockwork Orange), director Matjaz Pograjc's rendition of Anthony Burgess' celebrated novel. The play, produced by Mladinsko theatre, opens on December 6th in Ljubljana (SLO). Visit The Vault for details

The second project is an unconventional adaptation of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. The production marks the first collaboration between director Ana Tomovic and Silence. The music is... well, Italian. The duet drew inspiration from Italian Neorealist films, especially Federico Fellini's La strada and Nino Rota's score for the movie. The play, produced by Theater.Oberhausen, opens on January 15th 2010 in Oberhausen (D).

Last (but not least) is - Silence's new studio album. The duet has been working on new songs intermittently over the past two years. We'd love to tell you more about the album, but we love teasing you even more. More information regarding all three projects will follow shortly.

SHOW YOUR FACE! and LOVE UNTO DEATH: NEW DATES
Three performances of Show Your Face! will take place in Maribor and Ljubljana (SLO) in November. The play features live music performed by saxophonist Ugis Vitins and Silence. The performances - most likely the last opportunities to see the play in Slovenia - will be Silence's first live appearances since November 2008. Boy, time sure does fly.

Ljubezen na smrt (Love Unto Death), the only play / musical / banquet in the world that placates both spiritual and physical hunger (and features live music written by Silence) is back! Eight performances will take place in December (in Ljubljana). A word of advice: book the tickets as soon as possible, only 78 viewers are admitted per play.

HAMLET

January 24th 2009
OPENING SOON: HAMLET
Silence are off to Madrid, where they will finalize the score for Tomaz Pandur's new project, Hamlet, and attend the play's premiere. Hamlet, produced by Teatro Espańol, opens at the Matadero on February 12th. The play features a cast of acclaimed Spanish players led by Blanca Portillo... yup, as Hamlet.

Hamlet is, beyond doubt, Silence's most pretending and heterogeneous assignment to date. The four-hour play required an equally mammoth soundtrack. Nearly five months of work were required for the 90 minutes of original music featured in the play. The score features a multitude of remarkable instrumentalists: pianist Srebrenka Poljak, cellist Igor Mitrovic, contrabassist Ziga Golob, saxophonist Primoz Fleischman, drummer Janez Gabric and, last but not least, a 14-piece string orchestra conducted by Tomislav Facini. The score also contains a selection of previously released Silence songs and one new track, Mousetrap, interpreted by actor Asier Etxeandia.
